With only two days to wrap up this year's national chess championship, the tournament has reached the fifth round as the champion is yet to be known.

The ongoing tournament has over 40 chess players who are taking part so far.

CHESSAM Publicity Secretary Alfred Chinthere says the competition has brings the unearthed talents which everyone has the intention to qualify for the National team.

The tournament which started on Friday is expected to come to an end on Monday and is expected to produce 10 champions both male and female to represent the nation in the forthcoming
Chennai World Chess Olympiad.

Meanwhile, the Veteran chess player Kezzie Msukwa has applauded the organizer for bringing new talents with a passion for the game.

"All the players are well prepared and everyone wants to go to India to represent Malawi."

However, Msukwa gives the praise to CHESSAM and other stakeholders who took part in organizing the tournament.

Fide Master Joseph Mwale leads the chart with narrow points as the attention of the game goes to the wire on Sunday.
