CY Sister's goal minder Vitumbiko Mkandawire leads comfortably on the goal-scoring chart in this year's FAM National Women's Championship with 11 goals 4 above Rose Kadzere of Ascent Academy.
Mkandawire has no chance to increase her tally considering that her side (CY SISTERS) did not make it to the semifinals after finished third in group A whereas DD Sunshine and Ascent Academy finished first and second respectively.
Though Vitu is absent in the semifinals her prayer is on her companions not to find many goals to match or beyond her.
However, Ascent Academy's leading goal scorer Rose Kadzera will be in action this weekend in Blantyre to face Blantyre Zero FC at Mpira stadium.
Having scored 7 goals in the group stage, Rose's name has not been regular on the score sheet for the past two games. The last time she found the back of the net was earlier this month against Bangwe Super Queens in Blantyre.
Meanwhile, DD Sunshine's Gladys K Banda and Skippers' Linda Kasenda both are still hoping for the award having been found on the net five times each so far.
Elsewhere CY sisters attacker Maureen Phiri's dream of becoming the top goal scorer of the inaugural FAM National Women's Championship comes to an end as CY Sisters failed to qualify for the next round.
The Scorchers Attackers will face each other in the second semifinal as DD Sunshine will lock horns with Skippers at Civo Stadium.
The four semifinalists are yet to concede more than 3 goals per match which indicate that CY's striker could grab the first FAM National Women's Championship.
The competition which started in March with eight teams from three regions reaches the semifinal stage on Saturday day 23rd of April, 2022, and is expected to finalize a week later.
So far Kumwenda is the biggest scorer with six goals per game followed by Rose Kadzere and Gladys K Banda with 5.
