The Football governing body in Malawi, Fam has submitted a budget document of K2.5 Billion to the Malawi National Council of Sports to fulfill all its activities this year and early next year.

The Nyamilandu-led Association will have a busy schedule as the senior Flames participate in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled to start early next month.

Flames are in Group D alongside Egypt, Ethiopia, and Guinea.

Malawi National Team will host Ethiopia on June 5 at home, Bingu National Stadium before flying off to Guinea on 9 June.

According to the document, the Flames will need K852 million to honor all fixtures in the qualifiers.

A home match against Ethiopia will require a budget of K113 while the away fixture against Guinea will need a total of K122 Million.

The away match against Egypt will require at least K202 Million and K135 Million for the home match against the Pharaohs in September this year.

Thereafter,  Malawi will require K160 million for the away match against Ethiopia and K199 Million for the last match of the Afcon qualifiers at home.

The document also contains a budget for the 2022 Cosafa Men’s to take place in July, Durban, South Africa.

Fam has also planned friendly games on the Fifa calendar window in August and February next year.

Fam will require K89 million and K48 million for the away and home fixtures respectively.

Edgar Ntulumbwa, Sports Council Public Relations Officer said they are yet to finish allocations of funds to all associations.

He said, "Management is still looking at the budgets for all associations. Once we finalize, we will be able to disclose the allocations. "

Every year, Fam gets a grant from the government through the Malawi National Council of Sports for National tram assignments.

Last year, the Government provided over K1 billion to the Flames after they qualified for the Afcon finals that took place in January, Cameroon.

Sports analyst George Kaudza-Masina has encouraged Fam to reduce its dependence on government coffers saying Fam should try to find partners to support the Flames.

FDH Bank are the Official Sponsor of the Flames since 2016. They pump in K120 annually.  Fam also gets annual funding from the World football governing body,  FIFA for some activities.

Olympics games qualifiers will require a total of K183 million whereas the Junior Flames, and Malawi Under-20 National Football Team will need K98 million to take part in the 2022 Cosafa Youth Championship in December,  Eswatini.

The scorchers will require a budget of K98 million for the Cosafa Cup in South Africa after September.

The Scorchers were the runners-up last season after suffering a 1-0 defeat to winners Tanzania.
