The 2022 FDH Bank Cup is set to be unveiled on Monday at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre, the Football Association of Malawi writes.

Gomezgani Zakazaka, Fam competitions, and Communications Director have confirmed the development saying everything is set for the function.

"We are set to get the competitions started for 2022 and we are excited that the biggest knockout Cup on the land in terms of participation is back," said Zakazaka. 

He also disclosed that the draw for the regional preliminary round will also be held on the mentioned date.

He said, "We expect about 74 teams to take part in the competition. 16 from the Super League and 58 from Regional Leagues. More details are unveiled at the draw."

During the unveiling ceremony,  FDH Bank is expected to present 2021 individual awards in the players and media categories. 

Silver Strikers goalkeeper,  Charles Thom, Ekwendeni Hammers shot-stopper Chancy Mtete, and Bankers maestro Blessings Tembo are competing for the player of the tournament award.

Thom who had a stellar 2021 season, played a crucial role in Banker's journey to be crowned the inaugural FDH Cup Champions. He conceded two goals in 4 games keeping 3 clean sheets.  He saved two penalties in the shootout as the Bwandilo-based side booted the Bullets out of the tournament. 

Chancy Mtende was a key player for Ekwendeni Hammers inspiring them to their first-ever major cup final which they lost 2-0 to the Central Bankers.  Mtete was the goalminder in all the 5 games that Hammers played, he conceded thrice but managed to keep clean sheets on three occasions.

Blessings "Teacher" Tembi is another Candidate for player of the tournament.  He played all the 5 games for the Bankers, scoring once but was marvelous to watch in the entire tournament.  

Tembo was the architecture of Silver's come from behind against Bullets in the quarterfinals and he was named the Man of the match. 

Charles Thom,  Chancy Mtete, and Innocent Nyasulu for Rumphi United are the nominees for the best goalkeeper of the tournament. 

In another award, Silver's talented midfielder,  Zebron Kalima who was uprooted from their Reserve side to replace Duncan Nyoni, Chancy Mtete, and Innocent Nyasulu are competing for the discovery of the tournament.

Silver Strikers are the defending champions as they won the inaugural FDH Cup at Bingu National Stadium on 15th October 2021 after beating Ekwendeni Hammers by two goals to nill thanks to Frank Banda and Stain Davie's strikes.

Vincent Nyangulu for Mighty Wanderers was the top goal scorer after finishing the tournament with 4 goals followed by Stain Davie of Silver Strikers and Trouble Kajani, 21, for Rumphi United who scored three goals each.

FDH Cup was launched in 2021, it is a Cup with a package price of K45 million. The Champions go away with K25 million with the runner-up pocketing K8 Million.
