The Blantyre outfit Blantyre Zero beat DD Sunshine 3-1 in the first FAM National Women's Championship at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday afternoon.

Two first-half goals from Mary Chabvinda and Vanessa Chikupira's penalty were enough to switch off the twinkling in the capital and claimed the title.

Gladys Kandodo Banda comes off the bench and scored the consolation goal in the 56th minute.

The equalizer boosted the game with DD several times failing to put the ball into the back of the net.

As the match could have gone to the wire in the 65 minutes when Linda Kasenda's effort goes wide.

15 minutes from time Blantyre Zero sealed the game, with a goal from the spot, following a bad tackle in the box. The goal frustrates the opponents and Kapanda could have increased the lead in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, Skippers FC finished in 3rd position after a 2-1 win over Ascent Academy.

Linda Kasenda scored a brace in the first half whereas Carolyn Govani scored for Ascent.

However, CY sisters captain Vitumbiko Mkandawire has won the golden boot award with 11 goals 4 goals above Rose Kabzere and Linda Kasenda.
