The latest media release by the Football Association of Malawi that Meck Mwase has been relieved of his duties didn't come as a surprise as this was already seen last year.

First, it was the coming in of expatriate Manuel Marinica as Technical Director to help the Flames at the AFCON in Cameroon later was given the position as head coach at the tournament and this came as a surprise to many since Mwase was the one to lead the Flames.

The country's football governing body lied to the Flames faithful that after the tournament, Mwase will resume his duties as head coach and Marinica will be the TD as this is what he came for in the warm heart of Africa.

The Flames did well at AFCON reaching the quarterfinals and this is the squad that fought hard to qualify for AFCON with the guidance of our own Meck Mwase.

When the expatriate came, he released a full Malawi squad to take part in the tournament and we wonder if he knew the players looking at the time he stepped on our soil.

It was evident that it wasn't him who released the squad and truth be told, Meck Mwase is behind the success of our national team reaching that far.

Just when we expected to see Mwase taking back his role, alas FAM comes in with a media release that Mwase has been sacked and Marinica will sign a new contract as head coach for the Flames.

Neither did FAM even put Mwase in any position for the backroom staff and yet he is the one Malawians know of the sweat, courage, and determination to see the Flames in Yaounde Cameroon.

If it's football politics then Malawi is topping the list of countries with such a system of running the game.

FAM says Marinica has been appointed as a head coach looking at the performance of the team at AFCON, what a shame and disgrace as we all know that he has done nothing for the team (anangokolola ena atalima kale) he reaped where he didn't sow.

I don't hate Marinica he is just being given positions by the so-called Football Association of Malawi-FAM, all the best to him and for our Mwase, you will still be remembered as one who guided the Flames to qualify for AFCON we say all the best as you continue your journey.
