Mighty Waka Waka Tigers celebrated Matchday 10 week 3 of the TNM Super League with a dominant 2-1 (2-0) home victory against Red Lions to take their points tally for the season up to 9. Within the space of 30 first-half minutes, the match was all over thanks to two Tigers goals in quick succession.

With a low turnout of spectators, they basked in the bright sunshine inside MPIRA STADIUM and were treated to a superb free-kick goal from left-winger Frank Chikufenji and Precious Chiuza's goal in the first half!

Frank and Precious all found the back of the net between the 11th and 28th minute, firing Tigers into a 2-0 lead!

The second half was a quieter not affair all-round for the home side with Royal Bokosi reducing the lead to 2-1 in 78th minutes.

The two clubs met for the 20th time in the SUPER LEAGUE in the past 12 years. RED LIONS had not lost any of the SUPER LEAGUE matches against TIGERS with more than 2 goals per game since the 2016 season. 

Trevor Trevor set his side up in a 4-4-2 formation with Dalitso Khungwa returning on goal. Although the team sheet had Manda and Fatsani operating as a double pivot in front of the back four, in fact, Manda primarily operated significantly higher up the pitch, linking up with Iven, Precious, and George in the attack. The away side also lined up in a back four but played like a 4-5-1.

The first half was for the Tigers as they kept possession of the visitors.

Masiya Manda could have made it 1 nil in the early opening stage after along range shot outside the box.

With pressure mounting on the Red's defense, the Tigers got the free-kick and found the goal from it. (1-0).

Red Lions tried their luck to get the equalizer but it was the Tigers who enjoyed the possession.

On 28th Matiga increases the lead through Precious Chiuza's header after a corner kick played by Frank Chikufenji. 

It was 1 goal and 1 assist on Saturday afternoon for him and was booked for a foul in the 38th minute. (F Chikufenji).

Red Lions looked different from a restart with a striker Bokosi probe for an equalizer.

The visitors made numerous changes with Willard John, Matthews Simbeyi, Newman Namusamale paving the way for Humphreys Minandi, Ronald Pangani, Moses Nakumba 52nd, and 72 minutes respectively.

The subs brought differences between the in the 78th minute when the Reds were awarded a penalty. But Bokosi we're denied by the goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa before he scored from a rebound.

The goal was not enough to rescue a point for the Reds as the Tigers went home with 3 points.
