We bring you the latest in the race for the inaugural FAM National Women's Championship Golden Boot race for the 2022 season.

The inaugural FAM National Women's Championship Golden Boot race has reached the wire with more than five players fighting for the glory this season.

Ascent Academy attacker Rose Kadzera leads the score chart with a narrow lead above CY Sisters' Vitumbiko Mkandawire who has six goals.

The trio of Gladys K Banda of DD Sunshine, Ireen Khumalo of Ascent Academy, and Skipper's forward Linda Kasenda are tied with five goals each.

Five players including the Academy's forward Leticia Chinyamula have bagged four goals so far while the pair of Loveness Teketani and Maureen Phiri of CY Sisters have two goals apiece.

So far a total of 66 goals have been scored in 14 matches that have been played.

But Ascent Academy's forwards Rose Kadzera and Leticia Chinyamula, DD Sunshine's Gladys K Banda, CY Sisters Vitumbiko Mkandawire and Linda Kasenda of Skippers have a better chance to increase their tally this weekend if they score in their last group stage tie.

Ascent is the highest scorer having been on target 17 times while Bangwe Super Queen has conceded 22 goals.

Four teams Skippers, Blantyre Zero, DD Sunshine, and Ascent Academy reached the semifinals following their impressive performance in the group stages.

The final group matches are up for grabs this week as Topik FC host CY sisters in Mzuzu while DD Sunshine will entertain Ascent Academy in Lilongwe.
