The inaugural FAM National Women's Championship has finally reached the final round of the competition following Saturday's semifinal results.

Blantyre Zero defeat Ascent Academy 6-5 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.

Vanessa Chikupira, Carol Mulenso, Sharon Dzimau, Zainab Kapanda,
Emily Jossam and Chimwemwe Sapangwa scored their shootout for Blantyre Zero while Mary Chavinda missed it.

Meanwhile, Ireen Khumalo, Leticia Chinyamula, Catherine Gaudi, Atuweni Nilima, and Caroline Khoviwa did their duty rightly while Melicy Lickson and Deliness Misinga missed their spot-kicks.

However, 2020 FAM WOMEN'S Championship winners DD Sunshine thumped Skippers FC by four goals to nil thanks to Caroline Mathyola's hat trick and a goal from Chisomo Band.

The result means that Blantyre Zero will face DD Sunshine in the FAM National Women's Championship final on 30th April.

Will it be the same? The last meeting between the two sides was in the 2020 FAM women's championship which saw DD Sunshine crowned champions after a 1 nil victory at Mpira stadium in Chiwembe, Blantyre.

Speaking to Starsport HD after the first semifinals, National Women's Football Association chairperson Sugzo Ngwira was excited and happy with how the tournament has been handled and is expected a lot in the finals.

"As women's football, we are ready to introduce a national league considering that teams have shown a greater passion for the game and people should expect a lot from them," She added.

Commenting on the matter last season's Airtel Top 8 award winner Mwakhele Kaliyande has praised the organizer saying this year's campaign has brought out the youngsters which are Scorchers expected to be used in the national team.

Eight teams took part in this year's tournament three from the central and southern regions whereas the northern region had two participants.

So far a total of 82 goals have been scored in 18 games 15 wins and 3 draws recorded.
